Eastern Cape dam levels continue to decline each week, with the overall average dam levels falling 0.9 percentage points from 61.2% capacity two weeks ago to 60,3% this week.
The Province is experiencing the impact of severe drought and water shortages. The Department of Water and Sanitation encourages all to use using water sparingly to ensure water security.
The five dams of the Algoa system, in the Nelson Mandela Bay metropolitan municipality decreased by 0, 9% to 37, 2%. Nelson Mandela Bay has been facing serious water shortages and has been declared a disaster area.
Six dams of Amathola system serving Buffalo City declined 0, 7% to 68, 8 % this week.
The Departmental campaign to conserve water is still continuing and requests people especially in the most affected parts to obey municipal water restrictions.
