The Grade 12 Kingswood History class have left a lasting Kingswood legacy in the form of a time capsule to mark this, their 125th Jubilee Year. On Sunday morning, 21 April, the Jubilee Time Capsule was buried at the entrance to School House. This capsule will only be opened again in 2119, 100 years from now. Innovative Angolan musician, composer, instrument maker, electronic engineer, and musicologist Victor Gama will perform a multimedia lecture at the Rhodes Box Theatre on Friday 26 April at 8pm. Relief efforts are under way for flood victims in Port St Johns (PSJ) and King Sabatha Dalindyebo (KSD) Local Municipalities following heavy rains since Sunday. Spokesperson for Co-operative Governance in the Eastern Cape Mamnkeli Ngam says no injuries nor deaths have been reported thus far. One person died and two others were seriously injured when a tyre burst on a vehicle travelling on the N2 towards Makhanda (Grahamstown) yesterday morning. Police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said a vehicle with five occupants was travelling on the N2 from Cape Town around 9am on Sunday 22 April. “When it approached the Seven Fountains area, a tyre burst,” Govender said. Emergency services attended the scene. Fifteen passengers were taken to Settlers Hospital this morning when a taxi rolled on the N2 between Makhanda (Grahamstown) and Port Elizabeth. South African Police Service spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said the incident in the east-bound lane around 9am on Saturday 13 April. The passengers had been travelling on a mini bus on the way to Makhanda when the driver lost control and it overturned, Govender said. SASSA has expressed concern about a video circulating on social media that depicts a group of criminals bragging about stolen SASSA cards and the money they make out of them. The South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) says 24-hour stop-and-go sections will be operational, to allow for reseal work on the N2 between Grahamstown and Fish River Pass, from today, Thursday, 11 April 2019 until the end of May 2019. The stop-go sections will be approximately 4km in length and will be installed on Section 13, between Km 62.0 and Km 93.0. A maximum of four stop-and-go sections will be installed and the expected delay at each stop and go will be approximately 15 minutes.
