We spotted the Google Street View car in Grahamstown on 28 October last year, and are happy to note that Google Street View launched in South Africa today, including coverage of Grahamstown. This means that you can now take a virtual tour of the streets of Grahamstown.

Hip, hip, hooray! Today is the 140th birthday of Grocott's Mail, South Africa's oldest independent newspaper. What can we say - a good thing never dies!

Grahamstonians love to have their say, and of course, as Grahamstown's community newspaper, we encourage that. But part of our duty as a community newspaper is not only to provide a platform for people to have their say, but also to inform them about the various other ways and means available to them to further deliberate on whatever it is that's bugging them.

The all-seeing editor of Grocott's Mail, Steven Lang, spotted the Google Street Maps vehicle roaming around the lower regions of High Street in Grahamstown today after we had tweeted about it being in town.

ANC Youth League regional secretary Oscar Dondashe was murdered for his cellphone in the early hours of Sunday 12 July, causing extensive public reaction. Here is a video produced by RUTV student Richard Moor, in which Dondashe slates COPE ahead of the 2009 national elections.
