Easy win for the butchers

Team Tip Top were crowned the 2010 Pepper Grove Pick n Pay Inter Company Night Bowls league champions when they beat team Fizix in the final event on Friday.

Two games were played, one vying for the trophy and the other for the plate. The night bowls started towards the end of January with four teams in various sections.

Swimming buddies learn from each other

Ten children from Good Shepherd primary school received 13 pairs of swimfins last Tuesday as part of a development programme which teaches learners how to play water polo.

Social hockey league final

Grahamstown’s social hockey league held its final match on Friday evening on the Webster astroturf. The game between the Young Stars, a Grahamstown team, and the Fish Eagles from Port Alfred, was evenly matched and very close.

By the end of the 40 minutes playing time both teams had four goals and the game went into three minutes extra time.

Look out! It’s the Nite Race

The annual Makana Brick 8km fun run/walk takes place through the streets of Grahamstown tomorrow evening. The race starts at 5.30pm and is organised by Albany Road Runners.

Hosts win water polo tournament

St Andr ew’s College won their own annual St Andrew’s College Shield Water Polo Tournament which took place at St Andrew’s College on Saturday and Sunday.

Going swimmingly for Robyn Charter

DSG star swimmer, Robyn Charter, represented Eastern Province at the South African National swimming champs. She won the 50m and 100m freestyle events and finished 2nd in the 50m backstroke.
