ANC members in Riebeeck East took active measures to ensure a successful voter turnout in the area. 

Members sporting Jacob Zuma t-shirts set up a table up the road from the voting station (outside the 100m2 precinct) at the Dike Alfred Kota Hall, ticking off everyone who came to vote.

Mandisa Maloni and Nokuzola Kralo, two ANC members stationed at the table, said that the purpose was to establish how many of the registered voters in the district came to vote.

Maloni said that if some registered voters had still not come to mark their X by the end of the day, they would go and fetch them from their houses.

The voting station saw a slow but steady stream of voters throughout the morning.

Clive Jackson, an unemployed resident, complained that he had "no house, no water, no electricity" and so he had voted for change.
