2011 Matric Results

Matric results hit the streets last week, and Grocott's gathered pics of 2011's hopefuls eagerly receiving the fruits of 12 long years of labour.

Happily, this year's results showed a slight improvement over last year's, prompting some to speculate that brighter days may lie ahead for the nation's much maligned education system.

Victoria Girls, St. Andrews College and Diocesan School for Girls achieved flawless 100% pass rates, while Hoerskool PJ Olivier and Greame College missed the 100% mark by just one pupil each.

Furthermore Grahamstown East schools have bucked the provincial trend of decline by producing 100 Bachelor passes for the first time. This number is sharply (33%) up from the 75 Bachelor level passes produced by the eight schools in 2010.
