KFC Drive-Thru: have your say in person

Grahamstonians love to have their say, and of course, as Grahamstown's community newspaper, we encourage that. But part of our duty as a community newspaper is not only to provide a platform for people to have their say, but also to inform them about the various other ways and means available to them to further deliberate on whatever it is that's bugging them.

For example, we've received plenty of letters regarding the new KFC Drive-Thru in Allen Street, due to open soon. The general consensus appears to be that the new take-away is an eyesore, harming the aesthetics of the area. In his letter, Harry Owen invites concerned parties to take a proactive step - attend a municipal meeting:

"I trust that all those who object to this kind of outrage will attend the next meeting of the municipality's heritage committee which meets at 4.30pm on Monday, 1 February in the Council Chamber. It is open to the public and I urge interested parties to be there to express their views."

Although we're choosing not to take any sides on this issue, we do encourage all our readers who have expressed (or intend to express) an opinion on this matter to attend the meeting.
