Blending musical genres is a risky business for musicians. Meri Kenaz and the Appropriate Context with Meri Kenaz, Ben Badenhorst and Martin Wolfaart, seem to have found their new sound while still being original and pleasing sold out crowds at the National Arts Festival.

Kenaz, born and raised in Uitenhage is a good example of the potential of the Eastern Cape province . Her unique style and "goddess" voice shows how even experimental music can be popular. Musical originality is this band's mission; they want people to feel something new while listening to their unique blend of soul folk, jazz and eastern music.
