Local djs, musos, poets and dancers will entertain soccer lovers at the world cup Public Viewing Area (PVA) in Miki Yili Stadium next month.
“There will be lots of activities during the event, such as five-a-side soccer tournament, as well as the handing out of flags, vuvuzela's and t-shirts (not the Bafana Bafana t-shirts)”, said Makana Local Organising Committee Jeff Budaza. He added that facilities at the stadium are ready and that R340 000 has been spent for upgrading the flood lights and he said,“these flood lights will be part of the legacy.
In addition to the ablution facilities at the stadium there will be 15 more mobile toilets and six taps. Budaza also said that two water tankers and that South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) will provide with the signal for the PVA.
People are allowed to sell their goods such as vetkoes, chips and fruit, but Budaza said: ''If you want to sell liquor two licences will be expected from you, your original liquor licence and the other one you will get from Fifa for R5 000."
Eighty-three security guards with grade D certificates will be patrolling inside the stadium while a strong contingent of police officers will be patrolling around the stadium for visibility.''There will be enough ambulances and the traffic department will also give us three vehicles in case there's a chaos with the traffic''.
He urged people not to come drunk at the stadium because they will not be allowed to enter the stadium.
