Two trucks collide in High Street

On Tuesday morning an accident involving two trucks took place near the intersection of Bathurst and High Streets. A truck coming from Bathurst Street bumped into the back of a stationery truck in High Street.

Haymie Meyer, the driver of the truck which was bumped, said: "I saw the other truck reversing and then it moved forward, I was about to turn into Bathurst Street when I heard a bump at the back of my truck." The other driver had left the scene at the time when Grocott's Mail arrived.

A police officer, who was at the scene, said the drivers would go to the police and make their statements so that they can determine who was in the wrong so that the trucks could get fixed. The truck which allegedly crashed onto the other was left with its fron bumper hanging while the other truck had no visible damage partly because of the awkward angle at which the trucks collided.

Grahamstown police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender confirmed that the accident took place at 10H45am and that no injuries were reported. She said that one of the trucks belonged to Makana Municipality.
