One container is not enough for Extension 6

Many Grahamstown residents are upset because of neglected areas that have been spoilt by irresponsible people, which have become breeding grounds for various diseases.

People are complaining that their leaders are not doing anything about the affected areas, and they want them to stand up and do something before it's too late for their children.

For example, there is only one container in Extension 6, which makes residents angry because it is not enough.

More containers would be of great use so that the areas can be cleaner and the children can play without catching diseases. “It is difficult for us as we live far from that container. Taking our rubbish from our area to that remote container is hard,” said a community member.

“We want a container to be placed in every area in Extension 6; we have had enough of papers and bottles that lie around near to our homes, and the bad smell that comes from those things could affect our kids," said another community member.

Community members held a meeting a few months ago to deal with the issue of waste and decided to approach a councillor regarding the issue, which hasn't been done yet.
