People of Khoisan descent must unite. The ANC and DA are using you to further the interests of their people. These parties don't care for you. They only want your votes. Punish them in 2014.

The re-branding of Makana is yet another example of wasteful expenditure by our current administration and their immediate predecessors. The best and most overdue form of re-branding our municipality could do is simply to start functioning effectively by doing the job which we pay them for. No “intensive research” since 2007 (at what expense to the ratepayer?) was necessary to arrive at that conclusion. One only has to look around Makana's showpiece, Grahamstown, to see where the problem lies and the steady degradation that is taking place. That said, the new logo and slogan, “Makana, a great place to be”, are both very good. According to our Municipal Manager, our new brand is “the beginning of the realisation of the aspirations of Makana Municipality”. It's been a long time coming and hopefully she's right but the best guarantee of that happening would be for a competent group of councillors to be put in charge after 2011, comprising people of goodwill who are not in it for personal gain and who serve Makana, not their political party. |
