MEMBERS of the public are invited to a real-time live screening of the Raseborg winter picnic festival, featuring snow sculpture competitions, performances and good family time in the snow at the Municipal
Council Chamber this Sunday.

"Our Finland partners are inviting Makana to see their traditional Sunday winter picnic in the town Ekenäs," said Edward Ganza, an official in the Municipal Manager's office.

He said there was no time difference and at the opening of a snow sculpture competition the Mayor of Raseborg, Mårten Johansson, would directly address the people of Makana.

This traditional Sunday winter picnic is family orientated and there will be performances, snow competitions, children playing in the snow and horses carting.

Residents, together with Makana councillors and officials are invited to the live screening from midday
to 3.30pm, in the council chambers.

Those with access to the internet can also view the festival at http://www.raseborg.fi/webcam
The Makana council approved a partnership cooperation agreement between the two municipalities in 2010.

The partnership is supported by the South African embassy and began on the basis that both municipalities are festival towns.
